In this second part of Enrique Laguerre: In his own words, the teacher tells us about his first published novel, The flare. It's good to point out, however, that this was not the first novel that made. Other previous efforts were rejected by his own hand. The strict criteria in his office that always characterized it may have given the same fate at the flare, but it was not. Since 1935, this novel boricua compared to classics of the genre in the Hispanic field as the vortex of Joseph Eustace Rivera, Doña Bárbara de Rómulo Gallego and Don Segundo Sombra by Ricardo Güiraldes. As indicated in the novel Irrizarry Estelle Henry A. Laguerre: "It was clear from the outset that Puerto Rico's blaze had found his own epic land and man, whose unquestionable social and artistic values \u200b\u200bhe deserved a place among the most important novels of other regions."

Therefore, there is no need to add more. Let it be Don Enrique Laguerre, who spoke on the blaze in their own words.

Enrique Laguerre: "When my book comes out, they talk negative things and positive things. Contrary to popular belief, negative reviews encourage them to read books, but his critique Pedreira turned off all the negative criticism, because when he was the chief literary critic who had in Puerto Rico. Pedreira had a weekly column that was published in the newspaper El Mundo about the works that appeared in Puerto Rico, so, apparently, Pedreira, who was always so strict praising a work recently appeared in a novel writer, attracted wide attention when expressed in those terms of the blaze. : When you wrote The flare was a teacher? Enrique

Laquerre: "Yeah, so I was a rural teacher in Aguadilla and Moca. I collected all the data being a rural teacher. Then I came here, asylum children (compared with Paramount theater) and was placed about six or seven months as a preceptor for students hoping to study at university because I was busy all the time. And it was in the nursing home where I finished writing and transcribing the blaze. That work belongs to my time as a teacher in rural schools. "

"I came by train from Aguadilla to Rio Piedras, Saturdays and holidays, in the summer to take courses in the UPR. And when the flame went out in July, I was in college. I lay completely unknown on Saturday and Sunday was already known. For me it was an unforgettable surprise. There was even speculation that an agronomist, as the protagonist Juan Antonio Borras, had written the work. It appeared that work on a Sunday and Monday and everyone I knew. "
