Candy From Strangers I Pattycake

In the letters, from Puerto Rico

(Featured Books of 2010, a look at the current literary scene: 2nd hand, Story)
By Carlos Esteban Cana

; The 2010 was a year treat for lovers of good literature. Unlike previous years, these twelve months leaving a balance of quality in all genres, particularly in the story. On the other hand, two publishing events attest to the constancy as a prerequisite for those aspiring to leave a mark in literature, we refer to the publication of the Complete Poetry Jesus Tome and four volumes of poetry homohumana Abniel of Marat. But let us pause a moment to comment briefly on our preferences in the short narrative .
account of two novice writers are at the top. Nieves Lina gives us Waltzer. If anyone thought that everything was written genre invite readers to come to this book. Oddly enough, the stories in this book never seem to run out, always look new, different, even if you read them in more than one occasion. All have a whiff of mysticism, as if it were the warm sound of a lute. Stories
traitors Rubis Camacho will read for fans of short fiction. While it is true that in the 124 pages there seems to be not one but two books (the first driving mythical characters, and the second located immersed in situations in contemporary Puerto Rico), the rigor of good management of a language, with some metaphorical, poetic, gives the reader a feast of descriptions; own light narrative passages that make situations and characters spend the night in a pleasant memory. Juan Pablo
Canino, for its part, complied with all the honors a tribute to his teacher, Pedro Juan Soto, in his book My daughter is García Márquez . This collection of stories, editors Isla Negra, is a feast for the lover of the perfect story emanating from that trunk is magical memory. No story here breaks the standards of excellence that can be felt from the first to the last page. No tricks strident, sometimes the subtlety of a final gives way to a resounding silence in the next story.
Cruel World , Luis Negron, has become more reviews the book received in 2010. No wonder. The organic texture, the elegance of a simple story that they are guilty of excess in this book unique profile among the best of the year. Stories like for Guayama, Garden and Botella, no doubt, are anthologies.
the distance, the sky Hugo Rios Cordero is imposed by the skill of someone who knows his craft so full. Since Colossus, one that opens the book, to the final story that names the book are 30 stories read almost all of a sudden stop. Nothing superfluous in this book of 100 pages.
The office of vertigo is another book that looks like the hand of a veteran, when in reality it is a first book. Manolo Nunez Negron organized into three parts (Maromas without a net, leaping and Circus Days) twenty stories that are characterized by rapid turns in the final. Surprising that some stories have as its theme the same raw material in his books also develop both Lina and Hugo Rios Nieves. In the third part, sometimes the reader needs to know concerning the history of Puerto Rico to enjoy the story fully.
The first book of fiction by journalist Mario Santana, Kidnapping paper leaves the reader seeking the pleasure of reading content. An air detective and good management of historical data seasoned suspense of these stories. Although it is pertinent to note that some of the stories seem more sketches Santana develops novel, as a mausoleum, the fact is that this is a story book that entertains and reads quickly.
book The Merchant of Francisco García-Moreno Barco is an ode to the imagination, creativity and impeccable use of language. Rich in proverbs and phrases peculiar wisdom Village conversational, this book demonstrates the knowledge that the author is of the classic stories of English literature, as The House of Bernalda Alba by Lorca, and their ability to innovate. Tradition and innovation are given here in the same proportion. stories as necessary trades, we all have grown once a tree in his hands, Malena on the wall, and history entitling the book, put it among my favorites. Basket
eyes of Irma Rivera recreates the vast world of women who have transcended the boundaries of his era. Here the stories are told with the temperance who has studied cuentistero gender thoroughly. And close this select group title Twelve parallel stories of Eva Quiroz. Fruit that began in the writing workshop Silvia Domenech, these tales Quiroz particularly fascinated by the proper use of language, although some stories distils certain air of chronic small print.
